Coyle & Sharp, Pranking Pioneers

It’s April Fool’s Day! So I’m sharing with you my favorite all-time pranksters, Coyle & Sharpe. In the early 1960’s James P. Coyle and Mal Sharpe roamed the streets of San Francisco in suits and ties recording deadpan interviews with unsuspecting people about outrageous situations they made up. These include asking folks about their thoughts on an agency that “leases children,” and a very earnest attempt to convince a mailman to let them deliver his letters for a few hours. One time they posed as Austrian zoologists and tried to convince football coaches to let them add trained wolverines to the team. Keep in mind this is still the “Leave it to Beaver” era, so no one ever suspects they’re joking. Fine stuff!
