Laughter is Better Than Communism

My book of political satire and cartoons is now available in ebook form, so you should download it to correct all of the half-baked propaganda you absorbed in college. I originally launched my collection of essays and cartoons in July, to uproarious laughter and critical delight. But several readers emailed me asking about an ebook format (read: cheaper format).

So I’ve done just that. Plus I re-titled my book Laughter is Better Than Communism, and even had a graphic designer whip up a snazzy new cover.

This means if you bought the precursor, From the Monkey Cage, you’re already set: it’s the same content, and now that it’s out of print, a collector’s item. Well done!

If you haven’t read my book, you should. It’s hilarious, insightful, and has an inordinate amount of stick figures lambasting American politics. If at any point you’ve read my blog and thought, “This guys if funny,” or “this weirdo makes me think,” or “is there anything even remotely uplifting and entertaining about government or economics?” then this book is for you.

But don’t take my word for it. Here’s some critical acclaim:

“Humor, of course, entertains.  But good and clever humor of the sort that fills this book does more: it also enlightens.  Such humor often unmasks reality far more reliably than does a 1,000-page footnote-filled scholarly tome.  Andrew Heaton will make you laugh as he removes your political blinders!”

–Don Boudreaux, Cafe Hayek

“Andrew Heaton writes from a sound libertarian perspective, but he also knows how to write funny. He is the heir to Frederick Bastiat in that he writes common sense economics for people who need to learn about common sense economics–but you never know where you’ll start laughing out loud. It’s a sparkling read, and I highly recommend it.”

–Gene Epstein, Barron’s

“Heaton blends his superior wit, knowledge of politics, and special blend of humor into a collection of stories and anecdotes that will entertain, inform, and wet the pants of any politically engaged reader. Gather your pennies, gold, or bitcoins and buy this book.”

–Jim Swift, THE WEEKLY STANDARD

“An amazing, funny work that ought to be required text book reading. After spending most all my time in state government, there were a lot of things I didn’t know or realize about what happens up on The Hill-Andrew Heaton opened my eyes. I grew up in a conservative family, and after attending OBU I became a moderate liberal… now I’m a Heatontarian.”
