Bank of America Analysts Say we May Be Living in a Computer Simulation

Top analysts at Bank of America’s Merril Lynch say there’s a 50% chance we’re living in a computer simulation. (This is interesting in and of itself. Why are bankers and finance guys the ones tackling this issue? I don’t see a lot of overlap between interest rates and the Matrix.) Here’s the crux: we’re getting closer and closer to being able to make our own computer simulation of life on Earth. Think about the difference between Mario Brothers 3 and Call of Duty. Now imagine Call of Duty gets 1,000 times better. When we arrive at the point where we can design a computer simulation that’s indistinguishable from the world around us, we have to acknowledge it’s equally likely (in fact more likely) that we’re in a computer simulation ourselves.

Which is why I’m really polite to Siri.
