Dogs Learn to Fly Planes for British TV Show

I’m particularly glad someone took the time to teach dogs how to fly planes, because I feel the species had more or less plateaued as of late in terms of career options. Sure, we have seeing eye dogs and bomb sniffers, but in our ever-changing world it’s important to learn new skills. Technically the dogs in question did not learn how to handle takeoff or landing–that’s reserved for humans–but they did learn how to fly figure eight’s once in the air, and keep the plane level.

My thought is: why not start breeding dogs specifically designed to fly airplanes? It would only take a hundred years or so, and I bet “Labrador Pilots” would be wonderful companions. (Except that whenever you put them in the car they’d instinctively lunge for the steering wheel.)
