Lions Are Invading Kenyan Suburbs

It’s official: Kenya’s suburbs are way, way more interesting than America’s. Recently homes and crummy malls have sprouted up on the south (unfenced) side of Nairobi National Park, and it turns out that lions are completely undeterred by zoning laws. They’ll sneak through Maasai Village at night to eat goats and cows, and occasionally sharpen their claws on people. My boyhood in Edmond, Oklahoma was nothing like that. For one thing, there were hardly ever lions; I think the closest thing we ever saw was a mastiff. And the only times we feared for our lives were when we’d drive around Lake Hefner shining a spotlight on parked horny couples and have to flee the scene at top speed for fear of being shot.
